Raining in Brisbane

09 Nov

It’s finally starting to rain again in Brisbane. It has been a while since we’ve seen a good watering for our lawns. I don’t know about yours but my lawn has been starved for a good watering for a while now.

Infrequent watering of the lawn is actually really good for your grass. Some people don’t know that when your lawn doesn’t get scheduled frequent watering it actually helps your root system in your entire yard. The grass can’t be lazy when its watered infrequently. It actually has to work a little to get its water. It does this by reaching deeper into the soil with its roots. This causes a healthier plant all around. The roots get thicker and stronger so they can withstand the heat of summer and the traffic from playing in the yard. It also starts to get more green and become thicker to make your lawn look lush and beautiful!

Now would be a great time to dust off the old mower and get it running in tip top shape again! Lawns like to be cut crisp and clean by nice sharp mower blades. If you have dull blades it can tear the grass and cause disease in your lawn. Grass is pretty stressed already from being dormant for the winter months. It needs a little love to boost its growth at the beginning of the season. A little bit of fertiliser and keeping the grass cut regularly goes a long way in a lawn. Giving it what it needs now will help maintain your nice lawn through the heat of the summer months.

If you need a hand with getting your lawn back into shape, you can always call a Professional Lawn Care Service in your local area.
